Happy 50th

Yesterday, Barbie celebrated her 50th Birthday! Last month I wrote a posting all about the history of Barbie. In honor of this big day, Target has created a special 50th Anniversary doll. And best of all, is offering it at the 1959 price!!! The "Barbie Then and Now, 1959- 2009" is being sold for $3. As seen in the picture, Barbie is wearing her classic ponytail and striped swim suit with of course all the must have accessories. What a great gift for all the little girls AND big girls out there!

Happy 50th Birthday Barbie!

This year Barbie will celebrate her 50th Birthday! WOW!! And so far that lucky girl is showing no signs of aging!

She took the world by storm, surprising skeptical toy critics at New York's Toy Fair in 1959. With her good looks, charm, and charisma, she won audiences over in record time. Soon, little girls across America, and later, the world, were singing her praises. In the coming years, both adults and children would collect her in record numbers. Today she remains one of the hottest selling toys in the world. -Barbiecollector.com

Being a product of the 80s and early 90s, I had many different Barbies... my favorites of course being the ones dressed in the neon clothes with the teal eye shadow.
Happy 50th Barbie! Wishing you more birthdays to come!!
