Serial
Mom has been a long time favorite movie of mine. For those
unfamiliar with the movie, it came out in 94, starring Kathleen Turner (as the Mom) and my all time
fav Talk Show Host Ricki Lake, in her fat years (as the Daughter). The basic plot:
A picture perfect middle class family is shocked when they find out that one of their neighbors is receiving obscene phone calls. The mom takes slights against her family very personally, and it turns out she is indeed the one harassing the neighbor. As other slights befall her beloved family, the body count begins to increase, and the police get closer to the truth, threatening the family's picture perfect world.
Among the people she kills for ill manners and socially incorrect habits, she prays on someone with a huge fashion faux pas, white after Labor Day! Shocking I know! And this is my favorite part of the entire movie! After Beverly (Serial Mom), is caught brought to court for her killings, she notices a member of the jury is wearing white shoes, after Labor Day! Of course sending her over the edge...
Anyways, next week is Memorial Day weekend, so break out your white! And check out Serial
Mom! An oldie by
